Chase Cover Replacement, done the honest way
If your chimney is sided instead of brick, it is a chase, and the metal cover on top is the part that fails first in Minnesota. Builder grade covers are thin galvanized steel. They rust through, water pools on them, and it leaks into the framing inside the chase for years before anyone notices.
We replace chase covers with stainless steel, cross broken so water runs off, with a drip edge and sealed collars around the flue pipe. It is an afternoon of work that stops a slow leak that can rot the whole chase. Before and after photos on every job.
Signs you need this
- Rust stains running down the siding of the chase
- A cover that sits flat with standing water on it
- Water stains on the ceiling near the fireplace
- Soft or discolored siding on the chase
- A chase cover you have never seen replaced on a home over fifteen years old
